The renowned publisher has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Comes After Mixed Feedback
Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster unveiling last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated employees about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a clearer direction.
The president stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a revised focus, aiming to address player expectations.
Trend of Key Acquisitions
This announcement echoes a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s the game testing phase was revealing. It confirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed vision - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our players.
The trust in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding development you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the incoming Lead of the team. After several months of discussions, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.
His leadership and background in the PVP shooter space is vast, having devoted the last 15 years creating and leading some of the most well-known series in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.

The appointee presently serves in the position of executive producer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for their flagship title.
